Album Spotlight: The Dark Third by Pure Reason Revolution

October 13th, 2009 Comments Off

I’ve spoken of them many times before on Twitter, I hear them all the time, yet I’ve never had a chance to write about them. I’m talking about one of my favorite bands, Pure Reason Revolution. They recently came out with their new album, Amor Vincit Omnia, but it is with their first full length album The Dark Third that my passion for them began.

How to discover and enjoy new music genres

October 9th, 2009 § 1

I feel like it’s been a long time since I last wrote a decent article about music. Even though I don’t have any musical background, I’m just another guy who grew up listening to his family’s and friend’s favorite music, and since then my tastes have drifted various times.

When I was very young, I was very addicted to most musics from the 80s/90s: Bryan Adams, Roxette, Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi. I believed, and still do, that those two decades were for me the best ones in terms of mainstream music. But of course every person 10 years older than me will say the best decade was the one 10 years before mine. » Read the rest of this entry «

A backward glance on a travel road – Falling lyrics

October 1st, 2009 Comments Off

These aren’t the real or official lyrics, but I liked the music and it’s lyrics so much I thought I’d post my attempt at writing them here.

If you have any suggestions or the real lyrics please don’t hesitate to tell me so, so I can correct these.

It’s falling already there
(…)? Picture running in my brain
It’s falling already there
Beautiful someone who can tell my name
I’m always falling…
falling
It’s falling already there
Looking for someone who can tell my name
Forgiving picture running in my brain
And I remember those nights
surely(?) your eyes screaming
And I was falling falling

It’s falling already there
Vagrant(?) Picture running in my brain

It’s falling already there
Beautiful someone who can tell my name
I’m always falling…
falling

It’s falling already there
Looking for someone who can tell my name
Forgiving picture running in my brain

And I remember those nights
surely(?) your eyes screaming
And I was falling…
falling

A backward glance on a travel road

It’s not usual for me to post about all the new bands I listen to or discover, but there was one band that I discovered today that I felt like I should write something about, and help them promote their project.

ABGOATR is an experimental, melodic and sentimental musical side project of the French experimental metal band Hypno5e and is as of now a free download for anyone interested.

I tried to think of a good phrase to describe what it sounds like, but since I’m not a musician or a music expert I decided to borrow this quote from an album review:

A dark mix of progressive rock, experimental landscapes, and unique emotional texture, infused with multiple layers of ethnic styles, instrumental arrangements and moments of vocal majesty

I don’t think everyone can pick this up and enjoy it at first glance (see what I did there?) but I think that anyone that appreciate good music and isn’t afraid to discover new genres will find this very pleasing.

Enjoy :)

Yui – My generation single

June 11th, 2007 Comments Off

Today I got a nice surprise when I found out that YUI had released a new single before I was tired of her latest album.

This latest song has a nice upbeat to it and would make a very nice Anime intro for some random shonen one. It’s a bit similar to her “Rolling Star” song, but I honestly prefer this one because it’s easier to listen to, and “Rolling Star” has some high pitched tones.

The second song on the single is a nice balad, which contrasts quite a lot with the first one. A few of my favorite YUI tracks are usually the “secondary” single tracks, and this one is no different. For those that are curious, those favorites are: “Winter hot music” and “Why me”, and I’m also a fan of “Blue Wind” from her first album.
